Don’t know about you but I love COLOR and coloring….always have! I wanted to make some custom colored stickers. My first attempt was a major fail…I wasn’t thinking when I used 100 year old book pages… so I turned to my stack of saved ephemera. I had recently made a custom art journal with the cover of a vintage Dr. Suess book and had the inner pages left over. The book pages were perfect for the art journal layout I made pictured above. I will share the tutorial on how I made this layout and how easy the Xyron Create-A-Sticker is to use to make your own stickers! So let’s get started…
- The vintage book pages are thin and a bit delicate so I ran some cardstock through the Xyron Create-A-Sticker. Just place the image in the front slot and turn the knob until your image is visible through the other side. Just tear off and move to the next image.
- Peel off backing paper and add the image cut from vintage book pages.
- Trim around image and run through the Xyron Create-A-Sticker again. Voila! Sturdy sticker out of a vintage paper image! Thank you Xyron for providing refills for my Xyron Create-A-Sticker! It’s super easy and fun to make pretty much any image a sticker. You could use old cards, magazines, photos…the possibilities are endless.
- One cool thing about Dr. Seuss books is that some of the images are just line art… and I used a couple of those uncolored images for my art journal layout.
- I used alcohol markers to color the images. I used a somewhat muted color palette. It seemed to fit with the original colors used.
- The same process as above was used to make these into stickers. I colored directly onto the images after they had been run through the Xyron Create-A-Sticker machine.
- I used gouache paint to create this whimsical background for our Xyron Create-A-Sticker handmade stickers! This layout is in a vintage dictionary. Notice I highlighted the word whimsical 😉
- To complete the journal layout I placed the stickers made with Xyron Create-A-Sticker on pages and added a few details with a white paint pen.
I hope you enjoyed this short tutorial as much as I enjoyed creating it. Would love to see what you have made with your Xyron Create-A-Sticker.
